Artist Statement:
I have always enjoyed making things, creating
decorative objects, and over time have focused on making
body adornments. I began as a dabbler in several techniques,
moving from silversmithing to working with wire, then beads.
I’ve added felt and fine silver to my repertoire. I enjoy
all forms of off-loom bead weaving, but have fallen under
the spell of hand felting. I’ve always loved the feel of
beads, as well as the extraordinary range of their colors,
and now exalt in combining the subtlety of felt, which I
make from an amazing array of wool, alpaca, angora, silk and
other fibers. I’ve found that I can make bold, colorful
pieces, without the sense of weight that beads and metal
alone often produce. I use fine silver to “cap” pieces and
continue to experiment with melding beads, felt and silver
in new ways.
