Artist Statement:
Betsy Meyers-Green has been producing "art to wear" handcrafted jewelry for over 30 years. She has received well-deserved praise for her fashionable work ~ earrings, pins, necklaces, bracelets and other wearable pieces which incorporate a wide variety of precious and semi-precious gemstones as well as river rocks and fossils.
Her use of karat golds on textured silver creates a rich setting for many vibrant gemstones. She employs a technique called "kuem-bo" ~ an ancient Korean process of fusing thin sheets of gold onto sterling silver and applying texture.
She holds a BFA degree in Metalsmithing and jewelry from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI, and received national attention with a feature article in the November 1997 issue of Lapidary Journal.
Betsy participates in fine art shows & festivals around the country, including 14 years at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Her pieces are featured in museum shops, fine art galleries and shops across the country. |
